Greetings, Bay Area fans! It’s FOGCon time again, and I’m hoping to meet up with a few of you this weekend in Walnut Creek. I’m on two panels, and I’m doing an author reading as well. If all else fails, there’s a bar! (Although we are not doing Cosmos again. You know who you are…) Here’s my schedule:
Writing Between Genres Salon C Friday 8:oo to 9:15 PM
Moderated by the lovely and talented Madeleine Robins, we will be exploring how to succeed writing cross-genre work. What’s a cross-genre work? Perfect example: Cowboys & Aliens. Come talk about that horror-comedy you’re writing and how to market it!
Is Editors Necessary? Salon C Saturday 10:30–11:45 am
Led by Jed Hartman, we will be discussing what makes a good editor, and why we all (even editors!) need one. Hopefully, last year’s regrettable incident over the Oxford comma will be avoided….
Reading Santa Rosa Room Saturday 1:30 PM
Along with Andrea Blythe, Garrett Matthew Croker, and Susan Hensley, I’ll be reading from some of my recent work. Interpretive dance, throat singing and my musical stylings upon the pan flute may or may not be involved.
FOGcon is one of my favorite conventions precisely because it’s focused on books more than games, movies, and other entertainment. I love sitting around talking to writers and readers and editors. And then there’s the Dealer’s Room, where I load up on cool books I would never have otherwise seen. Let’s browse! Looks like a lot of fun things going on at the con this weekend. See you there!
