Sanctuary
This SciFi Channel original series is a pioneer in two ways: it originated as a series of downloadable webisodes before being greenlighted by SciFi Channel for the cable net, and most of its interiors and many of its exterior shots are actually computer generated. Much of the show is filmed against green screens, with the huge, fortress-like Sanctuary matted in afterward. It’s a bold concept, but hasn’t worked out all the kinks yet. Still, it’s good to see someone pushing the boundaries.
SEASON ONE
Sanctuary for All – Two hour series pilot was originally four webisodes. Stitched together, they tell the story of how Dr. Will Zimmerman meets Dr. Helen Magnus and gains entree into her sanctuary for “abnormals”, animals and humans who need shelter, protection, or restraint because they are “monsters”. Airdate 3 October 2008.
Fata Morgana – The Sanctuarians bring three women back from Scotland who are alleged to hold the secret of immortality, but they actually pose a great danger to the refuge. Airdate 10 October 2008..
